Frequently Asked Questions
1) What denomination are you? I'm a Christian. I am not affiliated with any denomination what so ever. I think Jesus Christ said it best when He said 'Follow Me'. Jesus Christ did not start the different denominations, man did. The different denominations pick and chose what they like from the Word of God and add their own thoughts which takes them away from the teachings of Jesus Christ. Paul warns us about this in Colossians 2:8
Colossians 2:8
V8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

5) Do you follow Christian identity teachings? No. Christian identity teaches that the white race is the true Israel and therefore better than all the other races. While some people from the white race are part of Israel, not all are. First off, all the races were created on the sixth day, including the white race. Adam from the garden of Eden was created on the eighth day. From Adam to Abraham, there are twenty generations (Luke 3:34-38). Taking the twenty generations and the sixth day creation into account, there are many from the white race that are not part of true Israel. Second, God made His covenant with Abraham in Genesis 15. God also talked about the covenant in Genesis 17 and told Abraham in Genesis 17:21 that He would establish His covenant with his son Isaac. God then passed on the covenant to Isaac's son Jacob in Genesis 28:10-22 Jacob had his name changed to Israel by God in Genesis 32:24-32 and it is Jacob's twelve sons that make up the twelve tribes of Israel (Genesis 49). To be part of true Israel, your roots would have to go back to these people. Third, in Acts 10:34-35 it tells us that God does not play favorites. Fourth, under the new covenant with Jesus Christ, any person that is faithful to God and Jesus Christ are blessed with faithful Abraham (Galatians 3:6-9 and 3:26-29). For more information on this, see the questions about Adam and Eve.
Galatians 3:6-9
V6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
V7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
V8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
V9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

6) What church do you go to? I do not go to church. The reason is because most churches follow the traditions of men and not the true Word of God. We are warned about this in Romans 16:17-18 Colossians 2:8 and II Corinthians 6:14-18 As the Bible teaches us, if you can not find a church that teaches the truth, it is better not to go at all. If you want to know if your church is one that teaches the truth, read Revelation 2:1 to 3:22 Seven churches are talked about and Jesus Christ only found two that had no faults. Those are the churches of Smyrna and Philadelphia. What they teach that the others do not is who the Kenites are. They are the sons of Cain who's father is Satan and they claim to be part of the tribe of Judah who are the Jewish people. You can find more information on Cain and his father, Satan in our study on the Garden of Eden. If your not in a church that teaches you that, God's Word tells us that you should leave. I read the Bible and let God guide me on what to do.
Romans 16:17-18
V17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
V18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

7) Tell me more about yourself. My name is David and I'm 39 years old. I was born in Illinois but moved to Arkansas in May 1994. I've never been married and do not have any children. I have had a love for God even as a child but I did not start really studying the Bible until 1990. I have been working on this site since November 25 1997 and it is a lot of fun. I enjoy sharing the Word of God with others as I know it can change a persons life.
John 10:27-30

8) What kind of computer do you use? I use a Apple computer with the Mac OS X operating system. In the past I have used the Windows operating system but I became tired of the security problems it is plagued with. This lead me on a quest for a new operating system. I tried FreeBSD, OpenBSD and different versions of Linux. While each had it's strength and weaknesses, they didn't meet all my needs. Then I heard about Apple's Mac OS X operating system and decided to give it a try. Mac OS X only runs on Apple computers so I bought one and it has been the best experience I have ever had with computers. Mac OS X is not only the best looking operating system I have ever used but I also don't have to worry about all the adware, spyware, viruses, popups and worms that plague the Windows operating system. If your in the market for a new PC, I recommend Apple wholeheartedly. I have taken some screen shots so you can get an idea of what Mac OS X looks like. I have made them smaller so they with download faster but they might be a little blurry. The first one is of my desktop. The second one is surfing the web and iChat. While you can minimize running programs in Mac OS X like you can in the Windows OS, Mac OS X also has a cool feature called Expose. If you have many programs running at the same time, press a button on the keyboard and Expose will sort it out for you. Before and After.
If your not in the market for a new PC at this time and you run the Windows OS, make sure you stay current with the security patches from Microsoft. First save any work you have in open programs then close them all accept for Internet Explorer. I recommend that because you might have to reboot your computer. Then go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and click on scan for updates. Look for the section called critical updates and service packs. Click on that and download them to your PC. After you downloaded them and reboot, it's a good idea to go to Windows update again because after installing one update there could be a new update for what you just installed. You should do that at least once a month. Then you should go to Mozilla and download either the Firefox or Mozilla web browser. Mozilla comes with an email program while Firefox does not. If you pick Firefox and want email as well, you can download Thunderbird from the same site. Re: past mistake mac os. All those programs you can download for free. Mozilla and Firefox are more modern web browsers and don't have the security problems that plague Internet Explorer.

If you want to setup SSH tunnel with your remote server using your Macbook, you can easily do so using the default Terminal application available in the Mac OS. Yes, we do not have to install any other application for doing so, like we do in Windows.
If you are a Windows user, I would recommend using Mobaxterm application for doing this.
What is SSH Tunneling?
An SSH tunnel or SSH port forwarding is a mechanism to establish a secure connection between a client machine and a server.
Let's take a simple example to understand this. If we have a database server, let's say MySQL running on a remote server with some IP address XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX and for which the port number 3306 which is the default port for MySQL is only available on the local network of the remote server. In this case, if you want to access the DB server from your local machine(connected to the internet), you won't be able to do it. In such a scenario, we set up an SSH tunnel with the remote server, to securely connect to the local network of the remote server to access the 3306 port on the remote server.
Let's take another example If we are using AWS service and we have two servers one is a DB server and another is the SSH server on which the Web Server is running. On the SSH server, because we are running the Web server, port 80 would be open to all, because then only the website or the web application hosted on that server will be available to its users. But, for security, the DB server is never exposed to the internet and is kept on the local network, which will be accessible via the SSH server, as the SSH server is on the same local network.
Now, if you want to check something or do something on the DB server. or want to connect your local SQL client with the remote database, you won't be able to do it directly. But because the DB server is accessible via the SSH server, we can setup an SSH tunnel with the SSH server to reach the DB server.
I hope the two examples are clear, and now you know, why SSH tunneling is needed. So let's see how we can do this.
Using MacOS/Ubuntu Terminal
We can use the
ssh
command to set up an SSH tunnel with a remote server, considering the SSH port which is port number 22 is open for the remote server. If our remote server name is my-remote-server.host and the SSH user is st-user, and on the same server a DB service let's say MySQL is installed which is accessible via localhost:3306 on the remote server.
Study Or Perish Mac Os Update
Then to connect to the DB server, we can run the following command to setup an SSH tunnel:
Turtle simulator 2 mac os. Here,
8888: This is the local port that we will open for the SSH tunnel on the local machine. Here you can give any port number after 1024, because until 1024 port number, all ports are privilege ports.
127.0.0.1: This is the IP for the localhost running on the remote server, this is also the destination we aim to reach via the SSH server.
3306: This is the destination port, assigned to the MySQL sever on the remote SSH server.
Study Or Perish Mac Os X
and then [email protected] is the username and the IP address/URI for the SSH server.
Once you do this, you will be prompted to enter the password for the user st-user, so enter the password an hit Enter, and the SSH tunnel will be created. Now, you will be able to access the MySQL server using 127.0.0.1:8888 address from your local machine.
Using a .pem file
If your remote server is an EC2 instance on AWS and you have a .pem file as the SSH key, run the following command for the above scenario:
In this case you will not be asked for the password, as authentication will be done using your SSH key.
This was the scenario where the DB server was running on the localhost of the remote server. Next, let's see how to connect to a separate DB server via a remote server.

Connect to Destination server via Remote Server:
Study Or Perish Mac Os Catalina
If our DB server is my-db-server.host on which port 3306 is available for connection on the private network access to the remote SSH server my-remote-server.host, as shown in the picture below.
Then we can run the following command:
Note: If SSH connection is enabled on a different port other than the port number 22, then we can specify the port number in the above command using
-p [PORT_NUMBER]
argument. So, for example we have 2200 port for SSH enabled on our remote server, then the command would be:Conclusion:
I hope this article helped you in understanding what SSH tunneling is and how we can setup an SSH tunnel using the Terminal in MacOS and in Ubuntu or other Linux based operating systems. If you were not able to do this or faced any issue running the above command do share in the comments below and we will help you out.
